Objectives
This component of RCEI had two major objectives:
- To estimate on a monthly basis the gridded emission flux of
sea-salt Cl- from the ocean surface to the overlying marine
boundary layer.
- To estimate the corresponding flux of volatile inorganic Cl
emitted from the sea-salt aerosol via acid displacement reactions
involving H2SO4 and HNO3, reactions involving of N2O5, and other dechlorination reactions for which sufficient information becomes available.
