Emissions Science for a Healthy Environment:

The interplay of human versus natural influences on climate and air quality emissions

REGISTRATION: To register, email Paulette Middleton (paulette@panoramapathways.net) with your name, email, affiliation, and country.

There will be a registration fee covering the breaks, 2 lunches and a reception. The fee will be around 150 euros: information on the exact cost of the registration will be sent around May. The fee will have to be paid in cash: the university cannot accept payments in credit card or checks.

               

After the conference, GEIA will post a Summary of Findings, as well as materials presenters wish to share with the public.

How to reach Hamburg

By plane:

Hamburg has a medium-size airport, easy to reach from many locations in Europe.

You can see the different destinations reaching the Hamburg airport, and all the airlines that have flights to Hamburg at:

If you come from outside Europe, you can take a flight to many cities which have very good connections to Hamburg, for example Frankfurt, Munich, Dusseldorf (Germany), London (UK), Paris (France), Amsterdam (The Netherlands).

From the USA:

-       There is a direct flight from Newark to Hamburg on United, but it works only on a few days per week

Flight United 864: Monday Sep 11 (leaves at 5:45 p.m., arrives at 7:20 a.m. on Sep. 12). Same hours for Tuesday Sep 12 (arrives at 7:20 a.m. on Sep 13)

Return flight: this direct flight operates on Sep 16th, and on Sept 17th: flight UA865, leaves at 9:00 a.m., arrives at 11:40 a.m.

-       Icelandair has also flights from several cities in the US to Reykjavik, followed by a direct flight to Hamburg

From Asia, you can fly to Frankfurt or Munich, as well as to Istanbul (Turkey) or Copenhagen (Denmark) and take a connection to Hamburg.

 

By train:

Hamburg can be reached by train from many cities in Europe. The German train company (Deutsche Bahn) has an excellent website in several different languages, at www.bahn.de

The main train station is called: Hamburg Hauptbanhof (be careful, there is another train station call Harburg before reaching Hamburg, don't leave the train there).

Another train station is closer to the conference location, called Hamburg Dammtor.

 

from Hamburg airport:

  • use a Taxi (ca. 25min), costs about 25 euros
  • Take suburban railway S1 (Get ticket from the HVV-ticket machine, it costs 3.20 euros one way) until stop Ohlsdorf, change here to metro U1 into direction Ohlstedt/Großhansdorf until stop Kellinghusenstraße, change here to metro U3 into direction Billstedt/Mümmelmannsberg (departure is vis-a-vis on the same track) until stop Schlump.

Take bus no. 4 heading to Eidelstedt to stop Bundesstrasse (cost of ticket = 1.60 euro, you can pay the driver)

 

from Hamburg main railway station

take bus no. 4 heading to Eidelstedt to stop Bundesstraße (cost of ticket = 2.20 euros; you can pay the driver)

or

take U-Bahn (Metro) U2 heading to Niendorf Nord to stop Schlump (cost of ticket = 2.20 euros; buy at the HVV-ticket machine)


 

Where to stay during the conference

Hotels: three hotels close to the conference offer discount prices for the conference.

Please book as soon as possible. There are several other conferences and fairs during September in Hamburg and some hotels are already fully booked.

Hamburg has also a lot of hotels downtown or close to the lake, from where you can easily take a bus or the subway to the conference location. See above for the subway directions. You can also take buses 4 or 15, which have stops near the conference center (see map).
